Drop in Improv Lessons Every Friday evening
Join our weekly drop in improv lessons every Friday evening, except during the summer and Christmas holidays. These sessions are open to everyone, whether you are completely new to improv or already have experience.
Each evening is playful, social, and welcoming. You will play fun improv games, learn core principles of improvisation, and connect with a friendly, open minded group of people. Many participants come alone, so it is an easy and relaxed way to meet others.
After the lesson, people usually head together to O’Leary’s pub nearby for a drink and a chat.
Location Buurtcentrum De Leeuw, entrance via Troelstralaan. You can enter together with the group between 19:50 and 20:00.
Time 20:00 to 22:00. First lesson Friday 5 September 2025.
Pay what you can €10, €15, €20, or nothing, depending on your finances.

Beginner Improv Course
Starting Wednesday 21 January 2026
Curious about improv and ready to try something new? This beginner course is the perfect place to start. You will learn the fundamentals of improvisation in a supportive and playful environment, using simple games and exercises that focus on collaboration rather than performance.
Throughout the course you will explore playfulness, active listening, and creative thinking. You will practise letting go of mistakes, building confidence, and communicating more freely, both on stage and in everyday life. Most importantly, you will have a lot of fun along the way.
No theatre or performance experience is needed. This course is designed specifically for complete beginners.

Intermediate Plus Improv Course
On Stage!
Starting Tuesday 20 January 2026
This course is for experienced improvisers who are ready to deepen their work on stage. You will combine all the principles and playfulness you have learned so far and apply them to richer scenes and more complex story based games.
The focus is on emotional depth, relatable characters, and stronger narrative choices. You will revisit familiar games while also learning new ones, always with an emphasis on connection, clarity, and meaning.
For participants who have completed three courses and at least one show.

Beginners Plus Improv Course Starting Wednesday 21 January 2026 Almost full!
Ready to build on the basics? This course is for people who already know the fundamentals of improv and want more practice, more games, and more confidence on stage.
You will explore how core improv principles apply in new and varied situations, including accepting offers, saying yes and, leaping into scenes, enjoying failure, and staying playful. Along the way, you will strengthen your stage presence, communication skills, and trust in yourself and your fellow players.
For participants who have completed one improv course.

Intermediate Improv Course Starting Wednesday 21 January 2026 Waitlist
In this intermediate course, you will bring together everything you have learned so far and take the next step in your improvisation. Alongside new and familiar games, you will work on creating deeper scenes with more emotional truth, clearer relationships, and more layered stories.
This course focuses on developing confidence in longer scenes and more complex story games, while maintaining playfulness and collaboration.
For participants who have completed two courses and at least one show.

Musical Theatre
Starting Tuesday 27 January 2026
with Iwan Dam
Music theatre is improvisational theatre where musicality leads the way. In this course, sound, rhythm, and tone become the starting point for scenes, rather than words or plot.
You will explore how music can shape emotion, atmosphere, and storytelling, inspired by companies and makers such as Orkater, Het Amsterdams Bostheater, Monty Python and the Ashton Brothers. This course is playful, physical, and creatively challenging.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of improv or musical experience.

Longform Improv Course
The Flat
Starting Monday 19 January 2026
The Flat is an advanced long form improv course inspired by films like Rear Window. Together, you will create the shared world of an apartment building and explore the hidden lives of its residents.
Through recurring characters and intertwining storylines, you will build towards a fully improvised show of forty minutes or more. The focus is on narrative, relationships, and slow building tension.
For advanced improvisers.

Improv for Life Weekend Workshop 31 January and 1 February
Improv for Life focuses on personal development through improvisation. This popular programme by Burgert Kirsten is normally taught over seven weeks and is now offered as an intensive weekend format.
The workshop explores play, presence, and relationships, using improv principles to increase self awareness, connection, and flexibility in everyday life. The weekends can be followed in any order.

Improv for Life Weekend Workshop 28 February and 1 March
This second Improv for Life weekend focuses on polarities, stories, and meaning. Using improvisation as a tool, you will explore how we create narratives about ourselves and others, and how to hold opposites with more ease and curiosity.
The weekend stands on its own and does not require attending the first weekend.

Improv Your Dutch Workshop
Improv Your Dutch uses improvisation to help you feel more comfortable speaking Dutch. In improv, mistakes are welcome and even celebrated. You are encouraged to be playful, silly, and relaxed, which makes it an ideal way to practise a new language.
The workshop focuses on building confidence, reducing fear of failure, and enjoying the process of learning. It is led by Jenny Hasenack, improv teacher, scientist, and language enthusiast.

WHAT ARE THE LEVELS?
Beginners don’t have to have any experience in theatre. It will help if you have joined one of the Drop in lessons.
What level is Intermediate? Minimum of 2 beginners courses
What if I am not fluent in English? No problem! For most of us English is not our mothertongue. We keep it simple.
