Improv Utrecht Musical Drop-in
Sing, laugh & connect!
Once a month, Improv Utrecht runs a musical improv drop-in.
In these sessions, anyone and everyone is free to join regardless of their prior improv or singing experience.
Not to be confused with a workshop, these drop-ins are not led by a teacher, but by a facilitator who carefully organizes games to practice your improvisation skills within a musical mindset.
Is this drop-in for me?
It doesn’t matter what your background is, you are welcome to join these drop-ins.
If you have never attended a musical session like this before, press the “first-timer” button, and we will make sure to take that into account!
If you are a musical improv lover, you can also sign up! We’re here to have fun, so all levels are welcome!
The session will be led in English, and the majority of attendees speak English as a second language.
Questions and verifications are always welcome and you are always welcome to take a break if anything feels too much for you in the moment. The drop-ins are run in a safe-space where we respect each other’s boundaries and do our utmost to make sure that everyone has a great time and feels empowered to take risks and try new things.
Please share with the trainer or with group if you have any injuries or limitations that people should be mindful of. If you are ill and possibly contagious we kindly ask you to stay home.
These drop-ins are not particularly physical, but please speak up if anything is uncomfortable for you. Your personal well being is the most important thing and we will do our utmost to ensure a safe space.

The drop-in usually take place on some Thursdays from 19:00 until 21:00 at at a community centre in Utrecht (see sign-up platform for exact location).

The musical improv drop-in tickets cannot be canceled nor refunded. In case you sadly can’t make it anymore, do not hesitate to message us and we’ll try to give your spot to someone on the waitlist (should there be one). If we’re successful, we’ll exceptionally be able to refund you. You can also transfer your ticket to a friend, just let us know about any changes.
The drop-ins usually take place at a community centre in Utrecht. The signup form will specify the location of the workshop you are signing up for.
We recommend arriving 10 minutes before the start of the session.
The musical improv drop-ins almost always happen from 19:00 – 21:00 on occasional Thursday evenings.
We ask that attendees do everything they can to arrive on time, and if you are running late, please send a message in the WhatsApp group to inform the facilitator.
The musical drop-ins have a fixed price of €20. These costs mainly cover renting the room, hiring the pianist and running the administration, so if the number of attendees who have signed up is too low (less than 8) then the workshop for that week will be cancelled. This very rarely happens, but if it does it will be communicated in the WhatsApp group and the sign-up sheet.
Wear loose fitting clothing that you feel comfortable in. Bring a bottle of water with you also. There are taps with drinking water in the building if you need to top up again.
After every session, everyone is welcome to join for some drinks at a cafe/bar closeby to get to know the other attendees better and to debrief on the evening’s fun.
Improv is a great way to meet new people and build connections, especially if you are new to a country or city, and the atmosphere after the drop-in is always fun and upbeat.
